Google Photos rolls out new Timehop-like feature
You'll no longer need Timehop to go down
memory lane.
Google Photos announced Thursday a
new feature that resurfaces photos and videos from a specific date in previous
years.
The feature is not on by default. Users have
to opt-in in order to see photos saved on the unlimited memory of the app.
Google Photos will also allow users to share
their old photos with friends and on social in form of collages.
This nostalgia trigger feature is not new.
The popular application Timehop is known to do the same by fetching old photos
published on social media. Facebook also introduced a similar feature called
"On This Day" that brings back old photos in a user's timeline.
The new feature is already available on web
and iOS. Android users will gradually receive the update.
